About the pilot

Where SEEN begins.

SEEN | Firstlight brings together 150 adults and the businesses they love on Commercial Drive, from East Broadway to Powell Street. Together, we test SEEN in real life before it launches everywhere.

Purpose

Find out whether a local network of discounts and specialty services makes everyday life easier, and whether we can run it well.

Process

  1. Register online, by phone, or with a community partner.
  2. Nominate up to five places you’d like SEEN to approach.
  3. We approach those businesses and set up offers.
  4. Get your card. We activate people in small groups to fix problems early.
  5. Use it for 12 weeks and tell us how it went.

End goal

A working network on the Drive, real feedback from our community, and the first step toward a SEEN District: a neighbourhood where most businesses welcome the card.

Who can join

Adults who live near Commercial Drive, or who regularly shop, work, or receive services there, and who can honestly answer yes to this question:

Do you currently have government-recognized disability status, or approval for or receipt of a government disability benefit or tax credit, such as MSDPR PWD, CPP Disability, a CRA disability tax credit, Veterans disability benefits, or another government disability program?

No documents are needed to join the pilot.

What you get

  • A free printed SEEN | Firstlight card.
  • Discounts or specialty services from participating businesses on the Drive.
  • One free year of base SEEN Access Status Card membership when the full program launches, after verification.
  • A say in which businesses join.

Good to know

  • It’s free for participants and for businesses during the pilot.
  • Your Firstlight card shows you’re part of the pilot. It does not verify disability status.
  • Buying things, leaving reviews, or sharing your story is never required.
  • Offer dates are published before they start. Pilot offers end on their published dates unless a business extends them.
